New Advocate General

On 5 February 2019, Mr Priit Pikamäe started his new term of office as Advocate General at the European Court of Justice.

Mr Pikamäe has held various positions in the Estonian judiciary, most recently as President of the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court (2010-2013). He subsequently served as ad hoc Judge at the European Court of Human Rights (2010-2016), President of the Estonian Supreme Court (2013-2019), President of the Estonian Council responsible for the administration of first-instance and appellate courts (2013-2019), and President of the Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union (2017-2019).

Mr Pikamäe replaces Mr Nils Wahl who held the position since November 2012. Mr Pikamäe’s term will end on 6 October 2024.
