In a letter sent to the Commissioners Didier Reynders and Johannes Hahn on 7 April 2021, European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi proposes that the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) starts its operational activities on 1 June 2021. According to the EPPO Regulation, the Commission must fix the date on which the EPPO can assume its tasks. Since major steps have been taken, such as the appointment of the EPPO College, key decisions on EPPO’s procedure, working arrangements with important partners, etc., the EPPO feels ready to start.
