The compilation of the College of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office has been delayed. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the selection panel could not meet in March 2020; therefore, the appointment of recently nominated European Prosecutors had to be postponed. Initially, it was envisaged that the EPPO start its operational work in November 2020.

On 27 March 2020, the European Commission proposed €3.3 million in additional funding for the EPPO. The money is to be used for staff employment and IT equipment. In total, funding for the EPPO in 2020 has almost doubled (48%). By means of this increase in funding, the Commission has met the demands made by the European Chief Prosecutor, Laura Kövesi. The budget amendments have yet to be approved by the European Parliament and the Council.
